About Us
Founded in 2005 at the University of Minnesota, the Grossman Center received its current name two years later. The name honors the late N. Bud Grossman, an esteemed businessman and community leader. Bud passed away from Alzheimer’s disease on January 11, 2010. Bud’s wife, Beverly Grossman, helped to shape the center’s early mission. We honor Bud as a leader in the Minneapolis philanthropic community as we carry on his legacy through our work.

Seeking Answers and Solutions
The Grossman Center for Memory Research and Care at the University of Minnesota advances discovery, translation, and community outreach to prevent dementia, enable earlier diagnosis, develop more effective therapies, and improve care across the lifespan. Through integrated research, clinical care, education, and community engagement, the Center is committed to improving brain health in Minnesota and beyond.
We need answers and solutions, and we need to find them quickly. We need to learn exactly what causes dementia and how to prevent it. We need to find biomarkers for earlier diagnosis, new effective therapies, and better ways to manage the disease in our communities—with a focus on preventing it from developing in the first place. At the University of Minnesota, we’re diligently working toward these answers.
